A collaboration piece for the Atlanta based Fly on a Wall dance
collective. It consists of 3 wireless LED square frames, controllable via Artnet.
What started as a pre-pandemic collaboration with Fly on a Wall's Nathan Griswold, turned into a long form
extended collaboration over the course of a year and a half.
I made 1 of the frames and he used it for a performance in February 2019, and then during the pandemic he
commisioned me to make 2 more frames.
Everything is controllable via wireless Artnet, and powered with small handheld usb charging batteries located on
the sides of the frames.
The initial tile was only cool white, but we decided to go for full color for the subsequent ones.
tile1 = 2' x 2' , 4 channels per led (RGBW), 140 leds, 35 per side, 560 channels. U1 = leds 1-128. U2 =
129 -
140.
tile2 = 3' x 3' , 3 channels per led (all white... not sure why it uses 3 channels. probably same chipset),
207 leds, 52 per side (except side 1 has 51). 621 channels. U1 = leds 1
- 170. U2 = 171 - 207.
tile3 = 4' x 4' , 4 channels per led (RGBW), 284 leds, 71 per side, 1136 channels. U5 = leds 1-128. U6 =
129-256. U7
= leds 257-284.
